Inside the Dark Room, a DIT works in a controlled, climate-managed environment while the boat is underway — same reference monitor conditions as a shore-based color bay, but ten seconds from set instead of a return trip to a facility.

What is a DIT and why does one belong on a boat?+
A Digital Imaging Technician manages footage, applies show LUTs, and grades dailies as they're captured. On land they work in a controlled color suite. On most marine shoots they work on a laptop in direct sun. The Basilisk gives them the room they were supposed to have — on the water.
What gear is inside the Basilisk's Dark Room?+
The Dark Room is built around a Cyanview live shading and grading station, an LH Video Services VTR and video-assist rack, and Wave Central multi-channel wireless video receivers. The interior is climate-controlled and blackout-lit for accurate color reference.
Is the Basilisk the only boat with an on-board DIT suite?+
In our category and configuration, yes. Camera boats do not carry climate-controlled blackout color suites. That capability is what defines the Basilisk as a Multipurpose Production Vessel rather than a picture boat.
