The Basilisk staged as a stills platform on Biscayne Bay

Miami · Stills

Boat Photo Shoot, Miami.

Stills days on the water are usually booked through a charter company, which means a captain who has never worked a shoot, no shade, no power, nowhere to change, and no idea why you keep asking to reposition into the light.

What you get

  • A captain who works productions daily and understands what “hold this angle to the sun” means.
  • A stable, wide working deck with the crane available as an elevated camera position.
  • Power on board, and an air-conditioned cabin — for the talent, the gear, and the client.
  • Wireless video so the client and the art director see the frame without crowding the camera.
  • Permits handled: Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach, Government Cut, the Keys.

The Reframe

If the stills day turns into a motion day

Stills clients almost always end up wanting motion — a behind-the-scenes cut, a social edit, a hero film once they see the location. On a chartered boat that is a second booking, a second crew and a second day.

The Basilisk is already rigged for it. The same vessel carries a stabilized cinema crane, an aerial unit and a colour suite, so the motion ask that arrives at 2pm gets shot at 3pm instead of scheduled for next month.

FAQ

Questions

Can you do a photo shoot rather than a film shoot?+

Yes. The Basilisk works stills days regularly — the vessel, licensed captain, working deck, on-board power and air-conditioned cabin apply the same way. The crane is available as an elevated stills position.

How many people can come on board?+

Standard on-water crew is a captain, camera arm operator and DIT. Additional crew, talent and client ride depending on configuration — send your headcount with your dates and we will confirm against the day.

What does a boat photo shoot in Miami cost?+

A vessel day with captain and fuel starts at the Vessel Day rate published at terrificwatercraftfilms.com/rates. Stills days typically do not need the full MPV configuration, so they price at the lower tier.
